A mixed review.
Bought the product out of necessity rather than thinking this is really cool. In my opinion, it is overpriced, purchased second hand and almost the same high price as a new one. The paper used for the pages is just about adequate, you can see the print to some extent on the other side, it feels quite flimsy. There is an excellent range of hymns and songs and this caters for a wide based congregation. It is irritating that in too many instances, words have been changed and the meaning obscured or diluted. There is often an inclusion of many extra verses in a few of the hymns, making some too long for all occasions. In these instances, is could be better to have starred verses or the hymn broken up into two or more parts. One good point is that there are certain songs which are to be found in few other hymn books.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great contents - less than helpful format for organist/pianist
I bought this to replace my very well used original copy, now falling apart, which has been invaluable for many years. However, the smaller size, thinner paper, smaller font size and paler ink makes it far less useful for organsts/pianists in a worship setting. No doubt this has bern done to reduce weight and for those holding it. However as an organist at times I find it difficult to read. Of course there is the perennial problem of how to keep a thick hymn book open at the correct page. I found these iseues too with the latest version of the 4th edition of the Church Hymnary which I returned. Publishers take note! Excellent contents, varied from plainsong to contemporary and all points in between. Now to find a second-hand original size copy with thicker paper, larger font, darker ink.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
