About this product

Product Information

This text tells the story of two interconnected groups: the performance art group COUM Transmissions (1969-1979) and the music group, Throbbing Gristle (1975-1981). COUM shocked art audiences with their public nudity and often masochistic art actions. TG likewise shocked music audiences with their sonic terrorism and explicit lyrics. The book documents both groups work, and places it in the context of avant-gardism and permissiveness.

  • Hail to the Industrialists...

This is the third time I've bought this book - I got it when it first came out, read it & sold it. I bought it again, re-read it and sold it again. This time I'm keeping it as the price is going up and up. Its tells the great story of Coum & TG (perhaps a bit biased towards Gen but Cosey redressed the balance in her book) and its a must for all those interested in the founders of Industrial Music. Its a shame that the proposed re-print of the book never happened cos your looking at £50 a copy now but its well worth it.
