Not at all lightweight - well written and un-put downable!
A classic. George Orwell had an uncanny knack of predicting how certain trends in society could be exploited. Their weaknesses used to the determent of society as a whole. Free speech and even to be in love could (and in the book) was forbidden and punished. Constant surveillance with the use of cameras was everywhere.
