A very sound collection
A lovely product this. Well worth the money. this is one of the original card oracles dating back to the late 1980s, long before the commercia.isation of the Tarot adn associated decks were seen as a money spinner. Why do we need oracles? They have been popular throughout human history. The oldest is probably the pre-Christian Chinese I Ching, despite claims of the Tarot being based on Babylonian seals. Geomancy has a long history as also the prediction from the flights of birds that was favoured among the druids. The reading of entrails was popular in Roman times. This collection of animal cards based on the Native American wisdom of the animals, a thing long lost in the West provides insight not only into our own condition but also to the animals themselves and the roles they hold in Nature. No European would consider Wolf a teacher or Crow Law. European received wisdom is that Nature is fallen and corrupt and European insight into animals is largely based on Aesop's fables, a city dweller using animals to exmplify his moral reflections on human behaviour, in my opinion. Powerful but simple divination system
This set is for anyone interested in the Native American teachings or way of life. The cards are beautiful, good quality and timeless. You can discover your 9 totem animals (a very humbling experience), illuminate your current Pathway or use one of several other spreads to help you gain clarity on any situation. Each animal shares its wisdom through its behaviours and traits, and the cards have detailed and specific stories to help you relate the advice to your own circumstances. They are direct, but gentle, and have the feel of the Ancients behind their words. There's a patient quality to them, like they already know you won't understand everything they mean until you've had time to process their wisdom, and experience for yourself the underlying lesson being offered. I first experienced these cards when my dearest friend did the Pathway reading for me and totally blew me out of the water with the insight and clarity I gained from the experience. Owning my own set was a non-negotiable. You will never regret owning a set of these amazing cards, especially when animals show themselves to you in a way that you feel deep down has meaning, or come to you in your dreams - you'll be able to just look them up in the book. Most likely you'll find they were delivering a very timely and valuable message. There are 52 animal cards, and a few additional blank ones for you to add your own animals of meaning (for instance, I've added the giraffe to mine as I'm from South Africa originally and the giraffe is one of my favourites). These are animals of the northern climes and (obviously) specific to the US, but they are valuable for everyone, in my opinion. Non esoteric way of obtaining animal guidance and wisdom
I have had my set of Medicine Cards for about 30 years. They are one of those products you don't use every day but you turn to when you want answers that nothing else is able to do. I love the fact that unlike tarot cards which really do need to be kept to reader only, these can be shared in terms of others in the family using them for answers and for specific readings and discovery of their own totem animals because it is highly unlikely that everyone in the family is going to have the same ones. So long as these cards are cleansed regularly sharing is actually beneficial for everyone. I bought this set for a friend who needed them and they have already been much appreciated. There is nothing "esoteric" about totem cards so those who shy away and freak out at the thought of anything "occult" could be catered for with a set of these as it is literally tuning to the essence of a given animal for seeking guidance. They do not tell fortunes nor predict death (neither do tarot actually but that is another story) nor anything like it. The insight and wisdom they share however is sometimes quite mind-blowing in its accuracy. For anyone interested in the red Indian tribes and their teachings, you could do a great deal worse than invest in a set of these. I think they may well be out of print so shop around for a good set in good condition, clean them under a moon cycle before you use just to remove the previous owners energy and away you can go. Accurate guide to understanding what the ‘wise old ones’ would speak, that animals and creatures each have ‘characterised traits’ and behaviours, in turn- acting as ‘teachers and silent guides.’ Also tends to lean a little into how animals in dreams are interpreted and how to interpret the message you are feeling.. into a more intuitively-connected and polarised direction. simple, beautiful, helpful
These cards have beautiful images of other animals, unpretentious, and I love the slightly retro image on the back. They give, should you wish to follow it, and why wouldn't you, incredibly helpful everyday guidance. They've helped me to remember to be joyful with the otter and the hummingbird, in these difficult times, amongst other things.
