In 1935, a young woman wrote a letter to Nursery World magazine, expressing her feelings of isolation and loneliness. Women from all over the country wrote experiencing similar frustrations wrote back. These women were educated and ambitious but many of their careers had been cut short by marriage. To create an outlet for their abundant ideas and opinions they started a private magazine, The Cooperative Correspondence Club, or CCC as it quickly became known. Made up of articles written by members on subjects close to their hearts the bimonthly magazine became an important part of their lives and the deep friendships formed through its pages ensured the magazine continued until age and ill-health brought it to an end in 1990 fifty five years after the first issue was put together.Product Identifiers
