  • Like "Dolly, my life and other unfinished business"? No, I love it!

One of if not the best autobiographies I've read. Upfront (pun intended), honest, open and as it is, and was, the telling of a truly remarkable life story, warts and all. A rags to riches tale which we all know, don't we? Well, no we don't unless, and until, you've read this book. At times humourous, tender, touching, poignant and even sad but always frank and sincere. I've always been a fan of Dolly, of her music (surely one of the greatest songwriters of all time) of her honesty and integrity, and of her determination to succeed yet not to forget her roots. This tell it like it is book is quite frank and often very basic in its language, calling a turd a turd, and you can almost hear Dolly speaking the text. And the better it is for that. I'm stil reading it and have been in stitches, and almost tears, at times it's THAT good - and well written. For all the make up, dresses and wigs Dolly has never been anything other that what she is. She has never changed from the little mountain girl she was, and bless her for that. if you think you know Dolly and haven't read this book, then you're wrong. Dolly was, is, and always will be one thing: purely and simply Dolly Parton - no airs, no graces, no side. If you like a good read then this book is for you, irrespective of whether or not you like Dolly. Once you've read it I think you might just like her after all even if you didn't before and, if you did before, then you'll like her all the better after.
