  • A Darn Good Read

A well written and easily readable account from one of Bomber Command's pilots who made through their first "tour" of operations in a Lancaster. The pen pictures of his fellow trainees and later his own crew are eminently visual - you can see the characters about which he writes, and with a calm and natural description he portrays the nights over occupied territories and under fire. First written in 1977, this book, for those interested in wartime auto-biographies, really stands the test of time..

Follows 1 Lancaster Bomber Crew on their full 30 Tour of Operations , From RAF Wickenby Lincolnshire, Written by the Captain,(Jack Currie) Very good easy to read account of a group of young men fighting for their country and their lives in one of the most dangerous of jobs,Bomber Command. Written as a memory of just I Aircrew from the many, Well over 1000 men lost their lives from this base alone. Very Good

  • A easy and enjoyable experience

L watched the Tv show in the late 70 s and watched it again recently on utubr and decided to buy the book this time. It has been a enjoyable read covering the crew’s challenges and characters.

  • Good story

Good book. I enjoy factual but this reads more like a story. Seems quite repetitive. Still a good read.
