  • If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.

Besides the fact that the language and examples in the book didn't age well (it is sexist at times, examples often describe some businessmen or salesmen or other "successful people", author tries too hard to convince a reader how miraculously good are his methods and so on, so it is a little bit cringey at times), it seems to be a really genuine, basic, simple and effective tool to deal with depression. I was on CBT with a therapist before so for me it is just a kind of reminder of methods I've been already using. I didn't make any "script" when I was doing my therapy so this book works perfectly for me. There are books probably newer, better and more suitable for contemporary reader but if you like classics, go for it.

Good book, however the print is very small. I think it’s later addition called the feeling good handbook is better and it also has larger print Very good book on cognitive behaviour therapy

I reached breaking point after years of negative thinking patterns and was recommended this book. I bought it and I’m honestly in shock with the instant relief, honestly. I actually bought another two copies for my mum and sister.

  • OK..

Book is a good read if you are looking for self help books but the cover was very battered and bent, for it to be classed as ‘very good’
