Helpful but confusing for Asperger's child
A very useful concept for explaining anger and the need to control It. My 7 year old boy found it difficult to understand that the red beast was a metaphor and the story confused him in that way. I suppose that goes along with literal type thinking. I do believe this book will help my child though who is struggling with anxiety and anger.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Very good for helping children to externalise anger
This book is helpful not only for Children on the autistic spectrum, but also for children in general. It shows that everyone deals with anger to a greater or lesser extent and that children can identify and select different strategies to bring their emotions under control. I bought this after it was recommended by a friend - my 7yr old daughter has had 2 out of control meltdowns at school. I received it today and we have read this 4 times already at her request, she recognises her anger traits in this book and I feel this is going to help us manage her anger better. We even went to the local shop and bought bubble rap for school- if you read it you will understand why we did that. I would whole heartedly recommend this to anyone with a child who has anger issues. My 10yr old son sat and listened to the last reading and enjoyed it too!
