This is a great gaming router. I upgraded it from the Nighthawk XR-300 which I've had since it released. The WiFi signal is much better throughout the whole house. The ping optimisation is also better than the XR-300 but not by much. I think if you are upgrading to this router from a standard router then you will get much better ping. The Duma OS 3.0 is much better than the previous one I was using. The QoS can help a ton with stabilizing buffer bloat. There's not many people in my house using my internet so I don't usually have any congestion problems any way. But you have all the tools at your finger tips in the DumaOS 3.0 if you want to allocate better bandwidth to certain devices. You can set each device to use a certain amount of UP/DL %. You can basically prioritise what ever you want. Overall it's a great buy for 150ish GBP. I wouldn't spend the 300+ RRP on it though. 5/5
So I updated my xr500 to this xr1000 and using my xr as a AP.
Now was very easy to set up and I get 2mb over what I should be getting (151mb where my speed should be 149mb) .
I have renetwork my hole house with cat7 cables with cat8 keystone connection(wall socket). All other cables are pre-built cat8 cables. Now this is over kill for a house but don’t want to re-lay cables in the walls and under the house. (Cat7 can do 40Gbps over 10 meets. Cat8 over 15-30 meets)
I now get 150mb connection to everywhere in the house on cable and on Wi-Fi.
The xr1000 is keeping up with over 30 devices connected at any giving time. I love the OS on the router and the build in ad blocker it give. In 24h it has blocked 1 million connection on it own.
Also have guest Wi-Fi for when people are around (printed off QR code. So they can scan it to join network.
