    For top quality field recordings you can choose no better than the TASCAM DR-07X.

    At this price level the recording quality is up there with pro machines from a previous era. Easy to operate and simple controls making field recordings a joy. My current intention is to record wildlife but I have used the DR-05 model for interviewing purposes with excellent results. The DR-05 is a similar recorder but without the A-B/X-Y microphone set up.

    Versatile but not for the faint hearted.

    If you overcome some user unfriendly issues you have a very useful sound recorder. Things that would confuse the user are the pre-amp and input level "ground loop" noise from what is either RF or static. A system reinitialise cures the noise problem. And you need a dead cat or muffler for clean voice recording and close distance which cuts out breath and splosives. The second to make use of the Tascam X as a direct microphone you need a usb to micro USB data cable else a charging cable won't work with your PC. This is an entry level sound recording tool. Series users need XLR for external mics which the DR-07x does not have. Pluses AA and usb powered. Lightweight. Difficult to find some of its deeper features, however overdubbing is present. Very sensitive field recorder also for collecting sound recording. Very high resolution 24bit depth. Beats any phone or computer mic for amateur audio. Dead cat and monitor head phones are essential accessories.

    The Tascam Dr 07X is simply Excellent!

    So many of my musician friends had suggested the Tascam to me. I have to say the Tascam Dr 07 X IS really something special!. I am only getting to grips with it, but so far it had proved to be worth Every Penny.
