Thompsons One Coat Water Seal Is The Best In It's Class
Thompson's Water Seal Ultra is a unique high performance transparent water repellent that penetrates exterior brickwork and cementatious substrates. It's unique, one coat application, is designed to penetrate exterior brick and stonework, so to provide a barrier against rain damage. It is suitable for exterior brickwork, pointing, rendering and concrete type surfaces. It is not suitable for wood substrates. 1. Preparation Thompson's Water Seal Ultra is recommended for use on all types of exterior brickwork and stone, which is above ground level and free from cracks exceeding 0.15 mm width. Thompson's Water Seal Ultra should be applied to clean surfaces which are free from moulds, fungal coatings and all other coatings which may interfere with the penetration of Thompson's Water Seal Ultra. Remove moulds and fungal growths by brushing with a stiff bristle brush. Eradicate any fungal or mould growth by treating affected areas with dilute household bleach solution (1 part bleach to 4 parts water) preferable applied in dry weather. Leave for 48 hours and rinse area thoroughly with water, and allow to dry. 2. Application Thompson's Water Seal Ultra can be applied to dry and damp (but not saturated) areas. Ensure that the whole wall is treated, not just isolated areas. Application Shake the can vigorously before use. Apply using brush or roller in one continuous operation. On vertical surfaces, working from the bottom up, divide the area into approximately 1 metre sections. Each section should then be fully saturated. Best results are achieved by brushing/rolling in all directions, paying particular attention to mortar lines. Rework the section to ensure complete saturation. Finish each section before moving onto the next. On horizontal surfaces saturate well. After 15 minutes remove puddles by redistributing to dry areas. Use at full strength. Do not dilute. 3. Drying Thompson's Water Seal Ultra is touch dry in approximately 2 hours. Super Product with easy cleaning of tools after use
I have used Thompson's water seal for many years and consider it to be the best protection, easily applied and tools washout in water. Easy to use and dries within hours.
I used it on the outside of a garage wall because the inside surface had some black mould and bubbling render. The instructions on the tin say that it's best to use a brush to apply this liquid to the wall, but I think a pressure sprayer would be OK and quicker. The liquid is white - rather like skimmed milk - but it leaves no white stain on the masonry when dry. It's not viscous like paint, so you may need a dust sheet to catch the drops that fall from your brush. The effect is that water bounces off the surface without darkening the concrete. I tested a treated and untreated patch of the same buff-coloured walling blocks. The untreated patch went dark by absorbing water. The treated patch stayed the same colour and repelled the water. I don't know yet how this effect will last, but I'm happy that it works as promised for now. The product is called 'one coat' but the instructions say a second coat may be needed on some materials. I'll try a second coat because the alternative - re-painting and re-rendering - will be much more expensive.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good brick sealing product.
I've just finished this tin on my drive wall which is westerly facing and gets the brunt of all the weather. I've used this product before and it seems to help keep the bricks from crumbling with it's protective properties. Top quality water seal
Used this product to seal a stone detached bungalow. I used a £9 pump sprayer from screwfix, poured it in and off I went. It took me just 7 hours to do the whole job, and with it being 1 coat it saved time recoating. I taped all doors and windows with polythene first and it was a pleasure to use.
