Icarsoft i980 OBD Scanner
This is simply an awesome piece of kit that is going to pay for itself over and over again. Highly detailed fault codes on my Merc where other scanners failed. Costs about the same price as a single scan at a Merc garage! Easy to use, quality unit. Comes in a zipped case with instruction manual. Also has a usb cable for software updates. I tried cheaper units that claimed that they communicated with Mercedes cars but they found no faults, this unit returned detailed info about the codes that it found, definitely does the job. Worth every penny.

Not the "be all and end all".
I have 3 messages showing up on my e280 diesel Mercedes. These are for faults which have been fixed. 1. Coolant level sensor. 2. Washer bottle level sensor. 3. Rear suspension air spring. Unfortunately, this product is not able to remove these messages, even though the said faults have been repaired. I have no doubts it can do a lot of things but in my case it just didn't work. The adverts claim it can do all sorts of things, sadly not too much is said about what it can't do.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good value but you have to know how to download software to make it work.
Its a good tool for the money, However, be warned, it is not a plug and play tool. You do have to connect to a PC (not mac) and download the correct software for the tool and then the correct software for your car, however this took me about 15mins without any issues. Then I was able to plug it into the car and it all worked. I was able to find the fault code and then reset the warning dashboard light. I went on line to find out what the code meant and then was able to reassure myself that it wasn't a major issue, and it was a temperamental connection probably brought on by the cold weather. So overall I would say this is good value for money but you have to know how to download software to make it work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Functions well - but a pain to update over the internet
The scanner will pull down all of the fault/issue codes from the OBD. You may need to search the web to understand some of them. The viewing of actual values for the faults is very useful and helps with diagnosis. The process of updating the scanner software isn't straightforward given the options and variations on the iCarsoft website - but persistence will win through in the end. NB Most MB garages will still charge for diagnostics before repairing the fault - even when you have downloaded the fault codes with the scanner! Just used this item and it does exactly what its supposed to do. Saved over half the price of the item by not having to pay Mercedes dealer the price of a computer check.
