Compact, easy to use air pump

This is a compact and easy to use air pump which comes in a neat bag which fits easily under my car's boot floor. The pump is straightforward to set up and has an auto cut-off when the selected air pressure is used. One slight criticism is that the pump appears to cut off at 0.5 Psi below the selected figure (would have been 5 stars otherwise). I will have to try adjusting the target pressure to get exactly the result I want. Having said that, the pump is great value for money.

Had expected better, since it is supposed to be a best buy

First use seemed to be going OK, but then the power just cut off. After fiddling with the 12v connection it worked again for a bit then cut out again. Repeated the fiddling with the plug again and it worked again so I managed to finish pumping up my tyres, but I now don't have any confidence in the device. Sent a message to the supplier but no response in over a week.

  • Great bit of kit

The Ring RAC635 tyre inflator is far better than I thought it would be. The inflator is well made and the cables store neatly into the body of the machine. It comes in it's own case which makes it easy to stow in the boot. The built in torch seems powerful enough to provide illumination when inflating a tyre in the dark but I haven't had the need to use it like that as yet. The power cable is more than long enough to reach all 4 wheels on my C3 Picasso and should be of sufficient length to reach the wheels on the majority of family cars. Inflation time from flat is very good and the digital gauge was accurate when an inflated tyre was checked with a tyre pressure gauge. The noise when inflating is no more than the air pumps in use at the majority of filling stations.

  • good for what it is nicely packed in its bag.

product good for what it was nice to have it n a bag,and a free torch, but I had to send it back as the connector did not fit my tyre valve I have an SUV. needed the type that pushes on and you clip it on and I really wanted the digital type.so had to send it back. That process was quite easy so no complaints there.

  • No more waiting around for tyres to inflate

Bought one of these to replace an old Halfords one which no longer sealed to the valve. Plus points - it's easy to use and topped up both a car tyre (32 PSI) and a schrader type bike tyre (50 PSI) very quickly. The digital pressure gauge agreed with a high quality independent gauge. Minus points - The small pressure set knob is a bit wonky and flimsy, as is the plastic and metal valve connector, time will tell if these survive. This thing draws 10 amps, so unlike the old one it was too much for my mains to 12volt adaptor. The small brass adaptor fitted my bike presta valve OK, but didn't seal and just let all the air out. Built-in cable storage is fiddly, so I just wrapped it round the body after use, which I suspect is what most people will end up doing. The unit is a wee bit on the weighty side to carry round in the car, unless you have a slow puncture.

  • A Robust and Simple Product. Very Happy with it...

There's a reason this product has won the Auto Express 'Best Buy' awards... it's a great product. Just one little issue I have found; the attachment is a little 'stiff' when new, so as you're putting it on and taking it off it lets quite a bit of air out of the tyre, so it's hard to get an accurate setting. I'm hoping that this will get better as the connection gets a bit more use. Easy solution - I just over inflate the tyre then use a very accurate tyre pressure gauge to get to the required pressure and not rely on the digital display.

  • Not as good as it should or could be.

I bought a new one because my previous Ring inflator packed up. This one inflates well, but the overall quality of the manufacture appears poor. On first use the fuse needed replacing, and the screw in cap for the fuse keeps falling out in the car's electrical socket as the plug casing is a poor fit. I've had to use insulation tape to hold it together. The screw adaptor that you fit on the valve is fiddly to use, and by the time you've got it off you've lost three or four pounds of pressure. A lever clamp like you normally get on a foot operated pump would have been much better. The answer is over-inflate using the digital guage with the pre-set (which works well) and then use a manual guage to set the correct pressure. Of course this shouldn't be necessary as the point of buying this pump is that it has the built-in digital guage.

  • Not tested yet but assuming it's functions all work...

It's got a case which is great my old one would often unravel it's wires in the boot! The materials are all really solid and the light is great, it has lamp, torch and SOS settings. The connection to the tyre is great, it screws on and also has a button allowing you to easily let air out without disconnecting it. My mum was so impressed with it she decided to replace her one that has never functioned well and could barely read tyre pressures.

  • Great product

I check my tire presure at least once a month and I never remember to do that while I am at a petrol station so this thing comes in very handy. Easy to use, plug it in, set the presure, connect the hose to the tire and that's it!

  • Standard pump

The pump works fine apart from the pre-set setting where it won’t go past about 10PSI before resetting itself back to 0 PSI again ! Most annoying ! The overall length is great for our long transit van. Torches and SOS handy . Carry pouch good to keep everything stored well in vehicle. Made in China clearly for pennies by Ring and sold for many pounds !! Unfortunately probably the only “best rated” product about in this easily broken & throw away world we live .
