    Small fast and robust

Exactly fulfills my needs. Longer usb sticks have often failed for me because of accidental physical force whilst plugged in, and anyway are inconvenient when using my laptop in an armchair. This usb is where I store the password for Bitlocker, my passwords database and my ssd complete backup. When I've finished a session, I take out the sandisk and store it elsewhere. Any burglar stealing my laptop will get a very nice computer, but none of my secret information, which is worth a great deal more. Speed of updating the backup is remarkably fast, and I am delighted with my purchase, which gives me security well beyond its cost, and takes up very little space whilst in storage.

Tiny 256GB Usb but a bit slow for a Usb 3 device

This newer style Sandisk nano Usb scores well with me due it's small size. My 256Gb was about £26 and represents great value at this price. It is not a fast device, mine managed 40-20 MB/s write (Usb3, 5Gb video file transfer) and 150-120 MB/s read, whereas my 1TB External Samsung Evo ssd will do 400MB/s with no drop off in speed, doing exactly the same test. It gets hot during extended writes, (and flattened my laptop battery when I left it in the 'charging' Usb port overnight, so don't do that :) ) It feels a bit flimsy too, compared with the older style Sandisk nano. It has a thin folded plastic sleeve around the connector, which is a very tight fit in a Usb port. I was concerned it might break my Usb port so I pushed it into an old laptop Usb port a few times, to squeeze it into a shape, whereby it would fit without so much force required. It doesn't come with a nice cover, which was a feature I liked on my older model. It stops debris getting into the connector blade, so I have my newer model stuffed into the lid of an old Usb stick, which isn't the best solution. However.. 256Gb in such a tiny package is a major achievement, so I can forgive any of the issues listed above. If I need superfast transfer, I'll use my 1TB Usb 3 ssd (400MB/s) or 1TB Usb C Nvme ssd (600MB/s). (All tests done with a 5.5GB video file)

  • Excellent unobtrusive backup for those on the go

Ineeded a permanent, large, backup for my laptop. With hundreds of videos and thousand plus JPGs and quite a few PDFs I have a file system of around 180Gb, so was delighted to find a reasonable price conformal memory stick - FROM A UK DEALER for fast and reliable delivery. Now in use for some time the ability to drag-and-drop any new large download without having a large stick proruding is very useful. As it is so small I can also easily carry my complete file system in my wallet if I can't have my own laptop with me for some reson, and i know it will be compatible with other peoples PCs should I need o use theirs. All in all the best, for me, way to ensure fast backups AND easy carry of all my files!

  • Should have bought Samsung!

Not the quality I expected from Sandisk. I have always used this brand for my various cameras and to be fair I’ve never had any problems with them. However this item seems very flimsy and doesn’t feel as if it’ll last long, only time will tell I suppose. I intend to use it in my cars for music storage and playback, so I won’t have to “handle” it that often, but it feels like with repeated use (inserting/removing from USB port) it may not last. I also bought a Samsung usb stick at the same time and it seems infinitely sturdier! I should have spent a couple of pounds more and not gone for this one. Max read/write speed achieved with this so far in a usb 3.0 port is about 55mb/s which is well below their claimed speed of 150mb/s. Spend a bit more and buy Samsung!!

  • Big capacity and easily mobile

The increased storage capacity whilst retaining its small size makes it ideal for the storage of photos, correspondence and whatever you might want to keep secure. It is also ideal for keeping several of them in a desk drawer enabling quick access to all of the information you have stored on each SanDisc and of course it’s easy to take with you whilst your on the move. Brilliant.

  • Different on different devices

As well as the misleading declaration by the industry with regard to the actual, usable capacity (yes I have heard/read their explanation, but purchasers require honesty and not tech-talk & excuses) these devices react differently when not PCs. Trying to back up from my tablet took forever with an ever reducing transfer rate. Works with patience but I am obviously not smart enough to use these simple-to-use tools as their behaviour is not as in the instructions.

  • SanDisk memory drive

I bought this memory stick to create a system image of my laptop so went for a reputable make with a large capacity at a reasonable price. I wasn't disappointed as it does the job perfectly at high speed. The small size also makes it convenient to carry and store.

  • Good enough

It works, if not exactly blazingly fast. Forget the USB 3.1 description - this device is very much limited by the speed of the flash chips, not the interface. But it performs well enough and does not get overly hot doing it. Physically, it sticks further out than earlier generations of the same thing, and that keychain 'arch' is pretty useless. But overall good enough.

  • Sandisk 256 usb stick

Good but the actual reading speed is 100 mb/s not 130! the actual writing speed is more problematic: it starts at 60 mb/s and after a few minutes of writing begins to drop and finally drops to 15.5 mb/s! Nevertheless it is of reasonable value.

  • Very good SSD thumbstick.

Had an acer with water damage and could not find a replacement Supported 256GB Internal SSHD to replace the defective one. So built windows on the SanDisk and PC now boots from the USB stick. Pretty fast in fact. Downside is that if you have too much open things can get a little sluggish.
