Our 12-year-old son plays with these, making shapes and designs, either on the fridge for a 2-D design or just alone for a 3-D design. I think it could help teach spacial relationships, which could help with geometry and designing in the abstract. Regardless, its' a creative way to pass the time and keep your hands busy.
