OBDLink MX+ easy to use, excellent app
I have 40 years experience working on mostly older cars from the 60s, 70s and 80s. It is embarrassing to admit that this is the first OBD reader I have ever used. So being an old fart, I was unsure what product to buy, but after some research comparing different OBD readers and reading a few user reviews, I spent a bit more money ($99) then I originally wanted to spend and purchased the OBDLink MX+ because 1) no annual subscription fees, 2) it reads both generic and manufacturer specific codes, 3) it has ability to conduct testing and provide analysis while driving under real conditions, 4) it has wireless (Bluetooth) communication so it will work with my smart phone. The the reader and app were very easy to pair/sync to each other, and the app setup took less than 2 minutes to add my vehicle (year, make, model) and get the codes downloaded. It was all seamless and in the end it saved me money because the problem was a very simple and inexpensive to fix.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good for what it does....
This is a necessary PART of what's needed for changing the ECU of the vehicles listed. What's not being told is in order to make changes...if you just want a diagnostic tool than this alone will work fine...you need the AlphaOBD download and app...($50) Why they can't just bundle it I don't know. Just know that in order to make changes you MUST have an Android device...i.e. tablet or phone in which to download the app to. The only Apple functionality is with the MX+ and that is simply diagnostics.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This OBD is phenomenal and processes information from the vehicle within seconds. I had to check my wife’s car and took it to my mechanic and showed him my OBD Link and he was very impressed with it and even tried to keep it.. He also stated that it is a very good Bluetooth tool to have in my possession.. He is also going to purchase one for himself without carrying his big OBD.. An Absolute Necessary Tool
I tinker with my cars and had no real way to see and monitor how they were performing especially in some details that a scan tool would be needed for. In a few words, I believe this is a great tool to have!
This digital tool is a must for DIY’s. With this too lol, you are able to make slight modifications and custom settings, and most of all, reading fault codes that will generally if not exactly, tell you what the issue(s) is/are. I cannot say that this will save you money in the long run by taking it to a mechanic. They can always come up with bs charges to add on I figure, even if you tell them what the problem is. I wanted a way to monitor the engine RPM and fuel flow for the backup gasoline engine in my Chevy Volt. The engine is totally controlled by the car's computer and not by the accelerator pedal. The instruments in the car tell me what is happening with the batteries and the motors, but very little about the engine. This device allowed me to set up log variables and generate a csv file that I could read and plot in Excel. Exactly what I needed. I like the fact that this device easily interfaces with my Android telephone, it can generate real time displays of selected variables, and it can log and store data on selected variables. Has paid for itself!
The OBDlink coupled with an app on the playstore allowed me to program my vehicle to accept changing from halogen bulbs to leds without having to use several resistors for them to properly work. I was also able to unlock factory settings with my vehicle so that I am able to use them. The OBDlink and the program I got from the playstore paid for themselves. Amazing and I highly recommend the OBDlink.
