A Bargain But Rough Around The Edges
My TL866CS programmer went from in-box/received to installed/working on my 8-core Win 10 PC in about 12 minutes. The driver and application code in box with the programmer worked, but expect to use a sword to cut your way through the Chinglish content.
Come on guys, I worked for Texas Instruments for 10+ years and maybe we didn't get it all right the first time around but this product has been in the market. My girlfriend from college, left Ann Arbor and went to work for Sony in Toyko essentially doing the work of a technical writer. I've got to believe there are English speaking ex-pats in your neck of the woods for hire as consultants at reasonable rates...
The unit came up and ran letting me blank, program and verify a 27SF512 without a hitch. But, it sensed the application code it came with was out of date. So, I went to the manufacturer's web site and downloaded the latest/greatest version. But, as soon as unpacked it from its zip file archive, it evaporated!!!
What? My copy of Norton Security Suite declared the file to be a security threat and IMMEDIATELY banished it to quarantine before I could run/install it. Turns out that's a red herring.
The Norton declaration WSreputation1 simply means there are so few copies in the Norton user data base for them to honor the files as threat free.
So, once I opened Norton's history file and ran a threat episode to ground, I could over-ride and declare the file 'safe'. Once I did that, I was able to install and run Version 650...
