Hell of a Chunky
Was given a 2 day delivery slot for this but was pleasantly surprised when it arrived the next day, but not quite so pleasantly surprised by the size of the box. Note to self, never assume anything and always check the dimensions. Quality wise, this is exceptional value for money. Overall it looks and feels well made - both body and accessories with the possible exception of the hose. Not that I think the hose would be prone to kinking, just not the same feel as the rest of the parts. I bought this vac to replace an ageing Titan, which whilst a great machine is let let down by the quality of it’s accessories, notably a constantly kinking hose. The hose on the Stanley is much better than the Titan, just maybe not as good as that of a Henry. Performance wise, the suction is good and so is the pick up. The blower is OK but not a patch on the Titan which blows away anything in it’s path. I had planned to use this about the house and for out and about but it’s just too big for the house and for lugging around. To my mind it’s first and foremost a shop vac. I pretty quickly decided it’s not for me and gave it to a pal who will use it about his garage/workshop and car. I normally always go for the smaller capacity, apart from the size difference I’ve always thought that as dust bags fill, effective suction reduces, so there’s an optimal size of bag. Didn’t keep this long enough to prove that hypothesis. When all is said and done, pretty decent machine but it is super chunky, if you’re going to get it, just make sure you have the space.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

STANLEY FATMAX VAC
As a craftsman for over 35 years, you could say I know a little about tools and what’s good, reliable and powerful enough to stand up to the rigours of both the worksite and the workshop. As an employer I also have to have tools that can stand up to total abuse from employees who don’t really or rarely care about the tools that they haven’t paid for because the company supply them. So you can imagine that some tools just get a great deal of use and abuse. I have been buying Stanley tools since I was an apprentice 35 years ago and in fact they were part of my very first toolkit. They have proven themselves time and time again and I will STILL only by certain Stanley tools above others. A few years ago when they introduced the “ FATMAX” range as a beefed up version of their standard tools which could stand up to even more abuse than the already great standard range. The Fatmax workshop and site wet /dry vacuums were no exception. With there robust strong build quality and powerful motors . It was a no brainier for me to fit out all the work vans with them and also put a couple in the workshop. They have performed well on both the site, workshop and even in my home. If your looking for a good quality, robust wet/dry vacuum with good reliability and plenty of power, then I would highly recommend these as very good vacs for a very reasonable price. They have definitely stood the test of time for me even after being thrown around by some very big brutish workers! Buy one without hesitation, you certainly won’t be disappointed with them. Don’t be tempted by unproven cheap makes. Take it from me and buy once and buy STANLEY. I have NOT been paid or received any incentives from Stanley tools for this review.
