The NVIDIA SHIELD TV PRO (2017) is a certified console killer.
If you happen to have a home LAN capable of 1gbps and you're sick and tired of having to buy the next Xbox or PlayStation for your kids, while they already have a gaming computer complete with a NVidia graphics card (at least 650 required) - look no further: The NVidia shield TV pro is the solution for all your woes. It shall identify all the games on your home computers and project them right on your TV screen while allowing up to 4 gamepads for your kids to play, sending the inputs back to the PC on which the game program is actually running, fooling it to think it is running the game on the PC screen.
The pro 2017 has several significant updates to its OS over the previous versions, which makes the picture more crisp and virtually eliminates lag (I have no idea how they did that). The graphics quality is superb, it can rival a gaming console (provided you have good hardware on your PC, since the NVidia Shield acts as a mere streamer).
In addition, they told me the new shield is good, they didn't tell me how easy it is to setup. Basically, it works right out of the box. You can (optionally) upgrade the OS and controllers - the device offers an upgrade the moment it connects to the internet and to the NVidia servers, but only if you like voice commands, etc.. However, I did use it and upgraded. Now I can ask the shield what is the temperature outside and it displays the weather on the TV :-).
In short, the NVidia Shield TV pro (2017) is currently the best streamer on the market, but that is just the icing on the cake. The most important thing about it - if you have kids, that's it - that you will never have to buy another gaming console in your life.. It is quite remarkable that they don't do any publicity for the shield - this is one instrument who is its own best publicity. Once you'll see the shield TV Pro running at your friend's home, you are going to want one.
