Additional InformationA man is on the run from the law and the outlaws in this gritty British hip-hop musical. Flash (Dylan Duffus) is a gang banger who deals drugs for a living, looking after his business as he tries to keep an eye on the five children he's fathered with three different women (Natasha Holness, Justice and Lady L). Flash is the protΘgΘ of another dealer, Angel (Yohance Watson), who is serving time in prison, until Flash gets a call one morning that Angel's release date has been moved up, and he's supposed to pick up his mentor the next day, bringing along the ú500,000 he's been hiding for him. This is bad news for Flash -- he's already spent ú100,000 of Angel's money, and how he has twenty-four hours to raise the missing cash or he'll be in deep trouble. Flash turns to his friend Evil (Tobias Duncan) for a loan, but double-dealing Evil only puts Flash deeper in the hole, and now Flash has two former friends after him, his girlfriends and mother are ready to turn him in, and his only ally is a street kid appropriately nicknamed Pest (Orhan Whyte). Director Penny Woolcock cast ONE DAY primarily with non-professional actors, using rappers and young people living in the Birmingham neighbourhood where it was shot; the cast also wrote all their own raps for the movie.
