The volume control modifies the total output level of the Barber Tone Press compressor pedal's sound. Setting it in the 2 o'clock position emulates the bypass that standard pickups typically provide. The blend knob on this gear modifies the mix between the compressed guitar and the clean guitar signals. Turning completely counter-clockwise makes the Barber Tone Press provide approximately 8 dB of class-A clean boost. Setting the knob at the 12 o'clock, or neutral, position raises the signal output to around 15 dB. Turning it completely clockwise makes the Tone Press provide a class-A FET output. This turns it into a classic guitar compressor. The Sus knob controls the sustain and modifies the squash level the compressor produces. This control would be familiar to anyone with experience using vintage guitar compressors. The unit maintains proper phase in all functions and positions.These Barber compressor pedals feature a pair of useful subtlety switches as well. There's a unique brilliance toggle switch that enhances the treble frequencies with a nuanced polish. Set one way, it provides a standard, almost flat EQ response.
