Boss OD-1 Is the best overdrive pedal
This is one if those pedals that i failed to buy back in the day. Why? Just because back in the 80's when these pedals were still in production, i had no idea how good they are. I was just beginning to learn guitar playing and i did not know what gear are the best yet. Now, i have a large collection of Boss pedals and also other good brands. My all time favorite are definitely Boss pedals. They last a lifetime. Never too late to add some more to my collection. This recent one is now the main attraction because this is one of the first Boss pedals.

Boss OD-1 long dash jrc4558d chip
This OD has a really unique mid-range overdrive tone that cuts through a band mix. It's true you loose some bass with this pedal in stock form, but modding the pedal for more bass shifts the magic mid range curve and I don't recommend it. Learn to use you guitar tone control and listen to how the pedal sounds in a band context not just in your bedroom by yourself. Too much bass sounds like mud in a dense 5-8 piece band. This pedal has some of the magic frequencies we associate with 70's/early 80's Marshall amps. A classic sound and still a very usable tone. I love it!

I can't really think of any thing negative to say about this effect, in regards to the way it sounds, however, if you want to use it on your pedal board, you will need to use an on/off footswitch & cable. Excellent overdrive & distortion in one compact sized pedal!!!
