  • Very good deal all around

I'd seen reviews in Guitar Player and other magazines and articles on the Riviera P93, where they could not say enough good things about the instrument. All reviewers said it felt, sounded, was built well above its price point in terms of quality. That's actually quite true, I find, now that I have the thing. I was put off Epiphones in general by a Joe Pass Emperor I had, where I accidentally discovered that the inlays were a laser-printed picture of an inlay on plain paper underneath clear plastic. I was disgusted. This guitar, however, has restored a bit of my faith. I often switch out pickups and hardware to suit me, but on this guitar all I did was load it with my favorite strings, GHS Boomers. Fit of all parts was excellent. Neck is straight and very comfortable to play on. Frets are jumbos. Strings don't "ping" in the nut slots, which are cut correctly. The Bigsby is real, not a licensed version. The P-90s sound very good. Played acoustically, it has a really nice resonance. The finish is quite nice, a deep wine with grain showing that looks pretty great in strong light. My one concern is the middle pickup pushes me out of my favorite picking zone, but I can live with that. That will be a small issue for some people and a greater one for others. I half-expected to be disappointed, that it would have that el-cheapo thing about it or feel/seem more like a toy or a knock-off. I'm happy to report none of those things was the case. It rests next to my 1971 ES-335TD on the wall, and it's hard to decide which to play. There is a lot of bang for the buck here.

  • I Love These Guitars!

I have two of these (wine red and gold top), and am crazy about everything about them! I have been playing for 45 years now, and have owned 168 guitars, consisting mostly of Fenders and Gibson’s (I have a database to prove this)...The Riviera P-93 definitely is in my top 10, and is the undisputed champ when it comes to value for the buck. I can easily pass the day just playing them, then pick ‘em up again for some more. Great, great guitar in all respect! Hoping they put them out in more colors some day!

  • Great p90 guitar

Just love this guitar. Feels very solid. The pickups are quite hot, still learning how to control the sound coming out of it. But I can just look at it all day.

  • It's the holy grail of Epiphones!

Good solid construction, stays in tune like a champ. And the gold hardware just makes it "dance" in the spotlight. I highly recommend it!

  • not a scratch on it

I bought it for a friend. We were told it had minor scratches front and back. When it came out of the box, it looked brand new. If there was a scratch, we couldn't find it. He's delighted, it is beautiful. Well done, Bob
