  • The amazing Martin D 41 Special

I already own a Martin OM 28 Marquis and a Martin D 18 Golden Era, so I guess the D 41 Special was just icing on the cake. The D 41 Special is, well, special...it has a Sitka spruce top, abalone inlay and forward shifted x bracing. It has a sound all its own with plenty of shimmer, yet balanced. It can be driven with a flat pick, just like my other Martins, with no decay. While the Adirondack-topped marquis and golden eras are direct, clear and woody, the D 41 Special sparkles and still drives clear notes and chords. Don't let anyone tell you abalone inlay 40 series Martin guitars are just the same as any other Martin guitar. They are unique and hold a special sound. The last comment I'll make is that the 1 and 11/16 nut works perfectly with finger picking and flat picking. I'm used to playing a 1 and 3/4 nut with my OM 28 Marquis and D 18 Golden Era, but the D 41 Special works just as well with a slightly smaller nut. Interesting enough, the D41 Special is only 1/32 smaller when you measure the bass string to treble string width, end to end. I guess that's why I didn't notice a difference when finger picking. Hope this helps you with your next guitar purchase!

  • Martin Classic

One of the greatest guitars of all time. Almost every major recording artist that used an acoustic guitar played a Martin - from the 1940s to today - Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, CSNY, Eric Clapton to name just a few. This 50 year old beauty has been beautifully cared for and has tone and action that are incomparable. I have a fine collection of 6 relatively high end acoustic guitars and this is my favorite period. When a perfect note or chord is struck you can feel it in your bones. Martin D-41, D-42, and D-45 guitars exemplify the epitome of the guitar crafter's art.
