Second Time Around
This is my second Ibanez Fiver and it replaces the one I had foolishly sold. True, this is the lower end of the Ibanez bass line, however, these basses perform Exceptionally! What I find so awesome about these bass guitars is the Tone. There is so much flexibility in tone options that you can dial up whatever you need or want. The pickups are Active and they sound extremely good through any amp or Direct. The next thing is the bridge. The bridge is massive enough to transfer string vibration to the body. I always play all electric guitars unplugged while evaluating them. This bass does a great job of sustain. Next up is the low B string. With a set of roundwounds, the B string is nice and tight with no flop and is nice and clear through a decent amp. Other great features are the laminated neck, easy setup with a good truss rod. Very nice fret work. Solid feeling tuning machines and great controls for Neck and Bridge pickups and three band EG; Bass, Mid and Treble boost/cut with center detente'. If you are in the market for an inexpensive five string bass, the Ibanez is the most no-brainer choice you could make. Excellent finish, very comfortable with no neck diving.
