Epiphone EB-0 Electric Bass Guitar

About this product

Product Information

The Epiphone EB-0 is a faithful replica of the legendary Gibson EB-0 electric bass. First made in the 1960s, it has a vintage tone as well as classic style. Featuring a classic double cutaway look, this model is simply loaded with great features. This is a four-string bass guitar. The EB-0 features a solid body carved out of mahogany. The D-profile neck, with its short 30.5-inch scale, is made out of the same tonewood. Mahogany is a medium-weight wood. As such, it is also a highly resonant and versatile wood. The Epiphone provides warm, soft music, but can produce a rocking, biting sound as well. The fretboard itself is made of rosewood, which is prized for the beautiful bright tone it produces. It is also a sturdy, oily wood. This is great because it holds its shape well, and it is not overly affected by oils from players' fingers as they glide over each fret. It is studded with attractive dot inlays. The hardware on this instrument is durable with a simple, classic look. The volume and tone knobs are 100% functional, and the all-nickel construction provides a classic chrome appearance. The three-point bridge is fully adjustable. This style of bridge gives bassists great control over the music they create. Because of features like this, this is a great tool on stage or in the studio. The single pickup on this bass is known as the "mudbucker." First seen in the 1960s on the Gibson EB-0, this is a famous humbucker model type officially called the Sidewinder. This is one of the most classic of rock pickups. It has a characteristic sludgey sound, perfect for moody or grungy rock sounds. Legendary Cream bassist Jack Bruce used the mudbucker to fuse bluesy sounds with pop-rock.One difference between the 1960s period bass and the Epiphone reissue of these guitars is the placement of this pickup. The Sidewinder is on the neck for maximum power and convenience. On the original model, it was placed on the finger guard, and the redesign allows for easy access and control. With this instrument, musicians get great classic rock acoustics along with improved design. The Slimtaper neck is another design innovation. This is a highly playable, ergonomic design for both comfort and exceptional performance, and it makes for fast and easy playing. The Slimtaper contributes to the great silhouette of this bass guitar as well. This ax benefits from accessories such as short-scale strings. Get the most out of it with reissued or 1960s period amps. This bass is the complete package for anyone who wants a classic rocking 1960s sound. It can do poppy sounds or bluesy ones and is great for beginners and experts. This is one of the most distinctive-looking basses on the market. Based on the SG electric guitar, the body style is a signature look of the brand. It features a gorgeous cherry finish that allows the wood grain to show through. The double cutout is comfortable to play and attractive. The black pick guard completes the vintage look. The headstock has the classic Epiphone look with easy-to-use tuners.

  • I like this bass.

I have not been playing bass for long (about a year now) but I like this one. The short scale makes it easier to play than my Dean and the sound is good. You get a little different sound from this bass because of the short scale but it is very usable. There is no fret buzz, it came correctly setup. A second pickup would give it more sonic depth but I really don't need this playing for my church. I have always liked the SG style and the finish on this is excellent. Nice deep red color with lots of shine I find this bass most attractive. The bass is used so there was some sign of wear on the bottom back of the body. Looks like it sat on the floor instead of on a stand, I had to shine the metal works on it when I got it. Overall at $150 with shipping it is a good value. I have been toying with roughing up the neck so that my hand slides easier but have not decided yet if I will do this. Bottom line I would recommend this bass even at new street price. Typical excellent Epiphone quality.

  • Epi EB-0 : Making bass fun again

The Epi EB-0 is slightly smaller than standard basses, due to the 30.5" scale. This gives it a comfortable compact feel. The mahogany body and neck, lend to its quality and pleasantly heavy feeling. It balances nice, better than the full scale EB-3 bass, which tends to be neck heavy. Sound is a bit limited from the single humbucker, but let's face it, most of us don't actually use all the adjustments that are available on most other models anyway. The EB-0 looks awesome, feels great, sounds nice, and is just plain fun to play. At the price of under $250 new, it's a no-brainer to add to your bass collection! Rhythm Dave - Cheap Brew Band

  • Cheap Bass not cheap on sound

Very "playable" instrument. Not too heavy and intonation is fine all the way up the neck. Good beginners instrument with a nice fretboard. I run it through may Marshall. No problemo!

  • Awesome Bass!

I am very pleased with the condition of the bass (very minimal signs of use). It is the third Epiphone product (I also own 2 Epiphone guitars) and am impressed with the quality at this price point.
