Product Information
Steve Morse, who plays lead guitar in the band Deep Purple, is a guitarist's guitarist. He grew up practicing jazz, classical, and rock genres and developing an ear for different styles and tones. When he was in high school, he forged his ideal machine, the "Frankenstein Telecaster." It embodied all that was good in his favorite classic models, specifically Fender Stratocasters and Gibson Les Pauls. He knew exactly what he wanted in the guitars he played on the road and in the studio. This led to the "Smoke on the Water" guitarist teaming up with Ernie Ball to create his own Music Man signature limited-edition electric guitar. It is based on his original model, but many updates have been added. The Music Man Steve Morse electric guitar features a double-cutaway design, a poplar body, and a 25.5-inch maple neck with a 12-inch radius. Based on Steve Morse's specifications to be ready for performing on the stage, this guitar is designed with a four-pickup arrangement. It has a rosewood fretboard and a black three-ply pick guard. It features 22 high-profile frets. A high-gloss polyester finish adds a smooth, classy look. The chrome plating and a solid brass tail block serve as classic accents for an overall great-looking guitar. The Ernie Ball Slinky RPS strings are Steve's choice for his signature sound. The poplar body makes the sound livelier and gives it a lighter weight. This combination makes it ideal for a guitarist playing multiple sets. The neck is finished with oil rubbed by hand so it feels like it has already been broken in. The four-pickup design allows for tone control, giving you the ability to move between rock and funk by flipping a switch. It's also easy to set up for the recording studio or the stage as there are 11 different combinations. The humbucker pickups were designed to match the guitarist’s special technique. They are evenly balanced for when Morse switches frequently between them in the middle of a solo. On the bass end, he plays the one on the bridge, and on the highs, he uses the neck. The Dimarzio DP-200 pickup is the original in the artist’s signature series. It has a very tight low end that doesn't get muddy regardless of the amp setting used. The DP-205 pickup has a warm, smooth mix of low output and dark tone. The Music Man guitar line has a long history of working with, and creating for, master guitarists. In addition to the Morse original blue burst guitar, the company also produces a whole host of custom models for renowned guitarists. Ernie Ball knows a thing or two about electric guitars since they've been producing them since 1962. Taking cues from well-known, talented musicians, each creation is catered to the individual artist and their fans. That trend continues with Steve Morse's Music Man.Product Identifiers
