Good amp for an acoustic/electric instrument
This is a great little amp for my Ovation acoustic/electric guitar. Plenty of power for most situations, nice on-board effects, and effective and usable tone shaping controls. It appears to feature a compression-driver horn, rather than a piezo tweeter, which results in a much more pleasant and realistic high end. My only concern is the coaxial speaker itself - sounds great, serves well - but in my mind, it might not be as robust as it needs to be, since it has a foam surround instead for the "accordion" type normally used in guitar speakers. Checking for a replacement (just in case), it looks like the only equivalents (eight inch, coaxial) are all high-fidelity speakers, which I wouldn't ordinarily use in a guitar amp. But this may just be a prejudice on my part, as I have no other reason to doubt its function and suitability for this application. Works fine so far. I recently picked up an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II with a nanoMAG pickup, and I'm hoping it will be a good amp to squeeze the acoustic sound out of that guitar as well.
