The Greatest MP3 Player Ever Made
I don’t think Apple, or anyone else will ever create a product so perfect for its function as the iPod classic. This charming little plastic and aluminum square boasts the most intuitive user interface out there, durability that puts other products to shame, and an iconic design that belongs in a museum. This is a device totally devoted to playing MP3’s, and it’s really, REALLY good at it. If you can find a model that has the Wolfson DAC soundcard in it, you will be amazed at the superior playback quality. It sounds much better than the playback on my smartphone. Another nice thing; my office has poor cell reception, meaning that my music listening is limited by both my data plan, and my phones ability to grab a signal. Not so with my iPod classic! I can listen to my tunes for days. Well, half a day really... the batteries in these things DO tend to degrade after ten days of use. ;-). If you feel like it, there are a number of upgrade services on eBay where you can send in your old iPod, and they will do a battery and hard drive replacement. The unit I purchased fits the visual description of the item. The bad part is it needs a new battery as it does not hold a charge for long, and the battery is noticeably swollen. The mechanical hard drive also started having issues a couple of days ago, probably just a result of age and shipping. I will be replacing the mechanical with an iflash and the battery will be upgraded to a 3000mah battery as well. I love my iPods.
I’ve used iPods for years. Along with Sirius it’s the only way I listen to music my wife and I have 3 iPods, one in the living room, one in my car and one she takes to the art class she teaches. We only have the 30G units but hold all the music we need. And it’s easy to add/subtract what’s loaded there. The sound is as good as the speakers or headphones you use. And I like the ability to “shuffle”. When I want to. The iPod works well with the Bluetooth integration in my car. It stops when a telephone call comes in or when I turn the engine off and starts up again where it left off the next time I start the car. Bought an iPod classic 5.5 to keep me sane while working in a secure environment. Ordered it on a Thursday, it shipped Friday and I received it Monday, which was a day earlier than estimated, which made me happy. Came with a charging cable, headphones and case. The headphones weren’t great quality, but that’s fine since I have tiny ears and I wasn’t expecting to be able to use them anyways. Glad not to have to source a charging cable elsewhere. The case is a simple silicon sleeve that slides over the iPod. I requested a pink one and that’s what they sent me. A+. It was a bit of a learning curve at first trying to get zipped files and video to transfer over, but that was more of a user issue and figuring out what I needed to do in iTunes. Every now and then it comes across a file it just does not want to play and freezes up for about a minute. I’m not sure why since the first time i synced it, it played fine, but after later syncing, it got buggy. Not sure if it’s the file since it seems to be happening mostly with one song in particular. Sound quality is amazing and storage at 30gb is still far more than what I was allowed on my Apple Watch. Battery’s lasted a full 8 hour shift so far just playing music. Video GREATLY reduces the battery life, but I wasn’t really planning on watching a lot of movies. Mostly just a few musical presentations that aren’t in mp3 format. Large, easy-to-use- dials on this size IPOD
100% functional. It replaced a lost first generation IPOD, and tis 5th generation version seems identical. Battery life isn't great but thi vendor aso included the charging cable. (My lost Ipod didn't have great battery life either). Cosmetically looks brand new. What I wanted with one problem.
Was looking for a media player for my music and for me the 5th Gen iPod Classic was a great match for me. Synced my music from iTunes to the iPod and it worked great. One problem I had is for a lot of songs there were high pitched scratch sounds littered throughout a lot of my songs. I tried downloading the song again to see if the file was at fault but it didn't fix it. The only way I was able to get around this problem is by installing Rock box and the high pitched scratching noises disappeared. Oldie but a goodie.
In a world of touch screens, there is still room for this classic ipod. The 5th gen ipod classic is easy to use, sounds great and best of all, it holds more music than I would ever use in the longest workout.
