About this product

Product Information

Emma Woodhouse, beautiful, clever, and rich, has very little to concern her. When her governess marries advantageously, Emma congratulates herself on her great success as a matchmaker. So, when she meets the pretty, naive, and socially inferior Harriet, Emma is ready to practise her skills again - ignoring warnings of the harm she

could cause from friend and neighbour, Mr Knightley. As she sets about meddling with the affairs of the village of Highbury, Emma carves a trail of confusion, disappointment and disaster that risks HarrietÆs happiness, and much to her surprise, her own happiness too.

  • This Jane Austen adaptation will not disappoint

An engaging and fairly faithful interpretation of Jane Austen's famous novel. All the actors perform very convincingly, and the music is lovely. I have four versions of the novel on DVD and this one, partly because it has the space of four hours to tell the story, is probably my favourite.

  • Wonderful story

This version of Emma is my third film dealing with the Jane Austen book. Each one is complete in it's own right although using different actors and with some different parts of the book given precedence. I wish sometimes that you could buy the various screenplays as books because they are so well written. Doesn't pander to the modern loose morals just to gain sales.

  • Jane Austen's 'Emma' best version

Is helping me to cope with current dire political idiocy by taking me back to more sensible and, no doubt, imaginary times

The best adaptation of ''Emma'' ever. Great quality, great service every single time.

  • The BBC at its splendid best.

I gave my last Emma dvd away and this is its replacement. Can't be without it - such fun! The cast is perfect.
