    Great piece of kit

The Recorder is very easy to set up and the image quality especially with HD channels is excellent. The twin tuners work well but remember they need two coax feeds from a satellite dish. I like the abiility to record one programme and watch a different one or to record two programmes at the same time. The recorder also has the facility to update itself over the air. A great piece of kit with a very good EPG.

S/H 320GB HDD PVR Twin Tuner FOXSAT HDR

Bought mine S/H on eBay auctions for less than a £100 which came without a manual - this made the setting up a bit more tricky and we had to wipe the H/D to get rid of all the rubbish which came already recorded. Once you have figured out the many functions its pretty good. Volume control doesn't work on high def channels you have to do this on your TV; a bit annoying that! The remote control is a multi purpose one and has a row of white buttons which needs to be understood when using on this tuner; you must make sure the white button marked PVR has been selected otherwise the R/C doesn't work. One wonders how many of these units have been returned as faulty when this last point has not been understood?

  • Excellent for storing and organising video

This model is now somewhat dated in terms of user interface, thus it is less easy to use and set up compared to the later Humax models. Also, catch-up and the iPlayer are no longer supported as the hardware and software have failed to keep up with the latest developments in that field. That said, HD and Dolby Digital quality are excellent, and in 2017 this remains in my opinion the best way of storing and organising video. The box comes with up to 1TB which can be used without fuss. A USB external hard drive can be permanently attached to the rear. A 2TB drive can be used in all cases, but formatting either a 2TB drive or a USB drive requires a bit of work on LINUX, so not for the casual user. Storage can be organised in folders of your own choosing and naming, with multiple levels. Video files can be renamed. This in stark contrast to later models from this and other manufacturers. Files can be moved around the main drive freely, and it is possible to copy files out to USB at least once, and possibly more than once back and forth, although it's not possible to reorganise them on a USB drive. The bottom line is up to 4TB of unobtrusive quite flexible organised storage, invaluable in my view, and video quality second to none. And by the way, the remotes for these are better and more reliable than those for the follow-on models. Recommended for the technically minded an d those who wish to see recordings again years later and actually be able to find them.

  • HUMAX FOXSAT HDR 320 gb

The service was very good. Humax easy to install, but would have liked a user manual . We find it a lot clearer and easier to use than the newest model Humax 500 which we purchased first.

  • Brilliant piece of kit

The Humax Foxsat was a breeze to set up, just hook it up to the satellite dish and it guides you through the rest. Picture quality and recording playback is excellent. After cancelling Sky I really missed the recording facility and the fact you can't add more than 50 channels to the favourites list (so still have to wade through all the channels you can't view) so this is a superb replacement for the Sky+ box, just sorry I didn't buy a Humax earlier!!

  • Does the job

Generally very impressed. Only criticism is that the text on the remote is quite worn which makes the use a bit less easy than it might be. The perils of buying second-user equipment, you might say.
