Good Socket 462 choice
I purchased this processor for an upgrade to an older Socket 462 (A) system. There are faster CPUs available, but they typically cost a lot more. This one is a good choice as it provides good performance for the money. It also is a 266MHz FSB, so is more likely to be supported by older motherboards. But do check to make sure that your motherboard and BIOS combination support it. It is a Thorton core and some older combinations support only the Thoroughbred core processors. I am using this processor to run a modern lightweight Linux system with good results.
