Boost the sound output of your speakers by hooking them up to the Onkyo M-501 power amplifier. The Onkyo amplifier can deliver quiet whispers and loud booms with equally high fidelity. It has a frequency response spanning 5 Hz to 100 kHz. This helps it balance the loud booms necessary for accurate action movie reproduction with the subtle features of music. The amplifier can be hooked up to speakers or other home theater devices.It has two channels with 75 watts per channel. It pumps out a total of 150 watts of power and has 8 ohms of impedance. To reduce harmonic distortion at high volumes, the stereo amplifier employs three-stage inverted linear circuitry. It boasts a high damping factor of 60. Great old 150 WPC RMS amp!!
I recently bought a nice condition M-501 amp here on ebay from this great seller. I downloaded the manual online, and the basic specs are below. Specifications 150 watts per channel, min. RMS, at 8 ohms, both channels driven, from 20Hz to 20Hz, with no more then 0.09% THD. Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.09% at 150 watts IM Distortion: 0.09% at 150 watts Damping Factor: 60 at 8 ohms Frequency Response" 5 - 100KHz +/- 1dB Signal to Noise Ratio: 100dB (1HFA-202 1 watt output) General Power Supply: AC120V, 60Hz Dimensions (W x H x D): 455 x 150 x 350mm 17-15/16" x 5-7/8" x 13-3/4" Weight: 10.5kg. 23.1lbs Im using this amp to power the MTM (mid-tweeter-mid) array on some old AR3 towers, rated at 250 WPC RMS power handling. Even though this amp is rated at 150 WPC RMS, it still can play the ARs relatively loud, and clear. It will kick in the protection circuit though if I try to play it very loud, but thats understandable considering im using it to power 250 WPC rated speakers. Its a great amp yet it only weighs 23 pounds and is only 11 1/2" deep(not including front handles). This is a fantastic old amp, sounds loud and clear and I highly recommend getting one if you need a good 2 channel amp in the 150 watts per channel range for powering mid/upper ranges.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

A substantial piece of electronics, everything about it feels good, from the look, to the feel of the switches. The power really brought out a lot of things I wasn't hearing with my Onkyo 85 wpc home theatre receiver. It had a pre-amp out, so I thought I'd try the M-501. It completely changed the sound of my Yamaha NS 70T's, JBL 4410 Studio Monitors, and Yamaha NS A-10.3's(ever heard of these?) Now I guess the next upgrade would be a compatible dedicated Preamp.
