The Lowrance HDS-7 Gen3 is a high-definition color fishfinder and marine GPS chart plotter designed to find locations on the surface and fishing structure and fish below. HDS stands for High Definition System, and is an integrated set of Lowrance features that maximizes the images for both chart plotting and fish finding. The HDS-7 unit features built-in Broadband Sounder for accurate imaging, as well as the StructureScan HD sonar module and transducer support. The Lowrance HDS7 delivers added convenience through the use of StructureMap HD capability, that lets users map bottom terrain with accuracy and return reliability. The accurate internal GPS antenna uses a fast 5 hertz update rate, and the machine offers support for an optional, external Lowrance Pont-1 10 hertz GPS antenna with compass. The 7-inch, 16-bit full WVGA SolarMax High-Bright LED screen is viewable in sunlight and has a resolution of 800 by 480. The display backlight is a pure white LED that is dimmable. The sonar operating frequency is 50/83/200 kilohertz. The Lowrance HDS-7 Gen3 fishfinder/plotter has an NMEA 2000, 0183 Ethernet port, and includes two MicroSD card slots. The included Insight Genesis, facilitates the creation of free customized maps based on field-collected survey data. Users can also share maps through the Insight Genesis Social Map community. The Lowrance HDS-7 Gen3 fishfinder is available in 36 regional language packages, which makes this unit a true global performer. The programming includes Trackback view and advanced transducer control. The Trackback feature lets the user view sonar history and save key locations as GPS waypoints. Lowrance Chart Sharing opens up the unit by accepting and reading map data from one chart card across every Gen3, HDS Gen2, and Gen2 Touch display on the network. HDS Gen2 includes bundled map choices and built-in charts and is compatible with such systems as Insight HD, Insight Pro, Insight Genesis, Navionics, C-Map Max-N and TOPO. All of the plotter’s options can be used with Insight Planner PC planning software. DownScan Imaging, when combined with a StructureScan HD transducer, works with the StructureScan HD to reveal high resolution, full color images of the world below water. The multitouch display has intuitive touch selection, so that accurate settings and operations can be easily performed even in a rocking craft. Scrolling menus, cursor assist, and snap-to setting markers make navigation and operation simple and fast. The HDS-7 Gen3 also features plug-and-play compatibility with Lowrance Performance Modules like Broadband Radar, Sonic Hub Marine Audio electronics, SiriusXM Marine Weather and Audio, and Class B AIS and DSC VHF. The Lowrance HDS-7 Gen3 fishfinder/chart plotter can also be connected to SmartSteer Control for MotorGuide PinPoint GPS and Lowrance Outboard Pilot. Tracking on the Lowrance HDS-7 Gen3 supports WAAS, EGNOS, and MSAS corrections for reliable and accurate navigation. Multi-View allows a user to view two charts simultaneously with independent overlay, range, and control for each. The high-definition, full color, backlit LCD display is presented in a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. The touch control system has intuitive input technology and snap-to markers that make navigation and programming fast and accurate while underway.
