TV Par Excellence!
I'm not into monster movies or killers, but when I happened upon the very first episode of Dexter in season one I was completely captivated. To write a character so brilliantly that you want him to succeed in such a truly diabolical form of twisted trauma is masterful writing indeed. Dexter takes you to the very edge of pretty much everything and all with a charm that really shouldn't exist in a human being so messed up. A killer with a great heart that he doesn't think he has, born of a tragedy that nobody should ever have to endure. The first season was outstanding on every level. The writing, the storyline, the music and every single character is as brilliantly written and performed as Michael C Hall's Dexter. Edge of your seat stuff without quite making it unbearable, brilliant acting by every actor, superbly filmed/edited and brilliantly directed. This is back to back viewing of the highest calibre. So could season two live up to season one? Absolutely. On every level once again. It's difficult to say much about the storyline/s without giving too much away, but it's not for the faint hearted whether blood and gore or the swearing. It is all extremely colourful, but not just for the sake of it, it all stands up perfectly. I also have to mention how good the opening titles are with the theme music. It gets better
I couldn't wait for the next season and when it came I was excited to see how things would unravel, and boy does it unravel! It is keeping me on the edge of my seat, will he get caught? How the story is unfolding is keeping me glued to the screen. I find myself hoping he doesn't get caught (strange as he is a mass serial killer lol) but you just can't help it. I'm half way through the second season and it hasn't disappointed me yet. I highly recommend this boxset. At first it's a bit odd but keep with it and you'll love it!
