It does not short circuit since the receiver does not get wet. This high-torque metal gear has a very high speed which makes it very efficient and reliable. Big Improvement over the original X-Maxx servo
Good, solid product that is definitely stronger than the original X-Maxx servo. The internal gears are brass, except for the one that is directly attached to the servo horn. I think this is a weak point as I have stripped some teeth off this internal gear already. I have also broken one of the ball ends out of the plastic tie rod and had to replace the tie rod with aluminium ones. However, the rest of my steering components have also been upgraded to aluminium, so in a big crash something has to fail! Just another way
After my purchase of the Gen2 X-maxx i was disappointed to find out that the weak and sloppy servo from the Gen1 didn’t make the “weak point” list that needed more attention for the Gen2 version. With the large sticker price upfront one should get what one pays for. I guess that’s just another way to make even more money. As far as the 2085x goes, its daylight and dark difference. You need this servo!
This servo combined with the stiffer servo saver spring and metal drag link totally transformed the steering on my X-Maxx. The wheels turn on carpet now. The stock servo couldn't do that. The 2085x is also quicker as well. My Xmaxx now turns like it's supposed to. Definitely worth the upgrade. My old 2085 was three years old and maybe it was getting tired, but this 2085x is no joke.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Perfect fit replacement
Due to crap weather I’ve only ran my Xmaxx a couple times since installing this servo. So it’s too soon to brag on it. The two times I did run it I saw a noticeable improvement on steering response AND range of turning radius. Good B U U U T …….. I’ve hade 2 burn up
I bought one to replace the “ plastic gear “ stock servo and just happened to buy 2 ( same one in the 1/10 Maxx ) so one for each and the first one I plugged int to center the servo and smoke immediately came out they did replace it … Then about 3 weeks the replacement burned up …. Out of warranty Sooo bought another and it’s intermittently stopping …. So either change to the HV servo 1/10 size or keep buying the 2085x …. Witch went up in price ! 2085X Metal Servo Xmaxx
The 2085x servo sucks,I had purchased 3 of these units for my 3 Xmaxx trucks,I got the first one in a truck and it went within the first 30 mins,I went ahead and thought maybe this one was a dud so I went and installed the second one and no longer then 15 minutes this time it locked up and wouldn’t turn left,Do Not Buy these 2085x upgrade,the stock one will outlast these by far,just a little less torque,still looking for a good upgrade servo for Xmaxx but yet to find one,any suggestions?Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Should be factory installed in the XMaxx
This shouldn't be an option, for a $800-900 toy from Traxxas should be factory installed. One of the weakest parts of the XMaxx is the steering assembly and the servo is terrible from the factory. Get the 2085X and watch your steering get 500% better/faster!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Worked for a couple of weeks -
The people I purchased this from were great. This servo was supposed to be heavy duty. I don’t bash super hard and not every day. I thought this would last longer. Traxxas failed to put actual 1/5 scale servos in the X Maxx.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
