A good box set of Tchaikovsky symphonies in good digital sound. Orchestra and conductor (Temirkanov) are in great form, and there's also a selection of tone poems and fillers, making it an excellent value.
Yuri Temirkanov’s Tchaikovsky is in the tradition of Leopold Stokowski (1882-1977)
which is very romanticized and at times involves fluctuation of tempos and touches you’ll never hear in Karajan, for example. The Royal Philharmonic (London) is spectacular, as is RCA’s digital recording!
