Wow!
First off this is not a toy that children should play with, because the glass tube is delicate. Since that's out of the way let me say... Wow! The bird has me and my one year old son entertained for sure. I don't think you can be too young or too old to find this dippy bird fascinating. Just keep water in the cup, and the sippy dippy bird will continue to wet its beak.

Nostalgia, science, and playfulness
My granddaddy had this toy when I was a little kid, and I loved it. I have no idea what triggered the desire to look it up 45 years later, but I was excited to find it. It works exactly like I remember, and it tips and drinks for a loooong time. Fun to watch. And the instructions give a brief overview of the principles involved, so it provides information as well. I remember it tipping further over, but I suspect that is an adjustment with the housing that I can play with. I will provide a brief warning - if you put it in a place where there is seldom movement, you will catch the tipping out of the edge of your field of vision and it will startle you... over and over.
