Easy to fit money saving repair.

I tried to make a small plastic catch before I thought of looking on eBay for a replacement. In the process I filed down the base of the broken catch. Two catches were dispatched with a slightly different design, one of which pushed onto the plastic lip in place of the broken catch. It is a good firm fit in spite of my DIY alterations. In fact I may have made it easier by filing down the position where it fits. A new bin lid would have cost £30.00 so great outcome.

    Hard to attach

Was very difficult to attach to the bin lid, it didnt clip on easily and even with very strong glue still didnt stick. Applied extra strong glue and left over night. It seems to have stuck down but the clip doesnt sit in the catch on the top. So im no better off 😔

  • Great product

My Brabantia bin is 15 years old and still in great condition, so the replacement pin was an inexpensive and brilliant way to keep it going. It has saved me buying a new bin. The pin was easy to fit - I used Gorilla Glue to secure it in place. Would thoroughly recommend this product!

  • Perfect

So – the pin catch of our Brabantia bin snapped off. My fiancée was all set to go out and buy a new bin which would have set us back around £100. I decided I wasn’t having that and did some hunting online where I found you could buy a replacement lid for just over £30. Further searching led me here where I found this item for less than £10. Other than the broken catch the bin is in perfect condition so I thought “why not?” and placed an order. At the amount I paid I wasn’t expecting much but the catch supplied was perfect. Only plastic but quite sturdy so should last for many years. Simple to fit and perfect for the job.

  • Clever idea indeed!!!!

Yes it's easy to fit(we needed to use a nail file to completely file the old one off) Used gorilla glue, so easier than a glue gun. It's a little stiff but that's probably me lining it up a millimetre out. Top marks to the inventor!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Saved 40 quid plus on a new lid !

  • Brilliant fix

My bin is 10 years old so I was doubtful that the catch would fit but they sent two models and one of them was perfect. Like another reviewer I had to file down the stub of the old catch. I then used slow setting glue (Araldite) so that I could find the right position. I shut the lid a few times and the catch found its own position and then I left it whilst the glue set. It now works perfectly - as new. A green solution that also saves money.

  • Great little item

These little clips are great......... I've had about 3 of these as we've snapped the pin off when bashing the cats bowl on the side of the bin lid!! No fault of the pin.... just me rushing around! Can be a bit fiddly getting the old pin off....... I've always used a Dremel with a little cutting disc and then stuck the new one on with epoxy resin.

  • Saved a new bin lid

It's made of rigid plastic so won't flex onto broken tab without shaving the old tab down/off. The first new clip snapped as I pressed it onto the bin lid where the old one was - luckily, there were 2 supplied, and after realising the above, made a success of putting the new clip on, and glued in place.

  • Definitely worth it

There were 2 catches supplied, I managed to snap the smaller one by trying to force it, I then smoothed down the surface and attached the slightly bigger catch and it works very well. For the money this is excellent, it restores an expensive bin to normal for very little money, very well worth it.

  • Much preferably to a new lid or bin

Pin snapped off. I thought I was looking at £40 to replace the whole lid when I found this alternative instead. Dead easy to fix, bin now works like new. Only time will tell as to the longevity of the product but no problems after a month
