About this product

Product Information

Acclaimed developer Bungie's final Halo game for Microsoft serves as a prequel to the sci-fi storyline that began in 2001. An all-new campaign supporting cooperative action for up to four players is included, and in a departure from previous titles, Master Chief is no longer the main protagonist. You are a new recruit to the Noble Team, a six-person squad of Spartan super soldiers, whose members specialize in key roles and wear customized gear. Planet Reach, the main base for UNSC military operations and home to 700 million civilians, is under attack from the alien collective known as the Covenant. Your mission is to assist the human resistance and prevent the Covenant from destroying Reach, Earth's last line of defense.

The shooting takes place from a first-person perspective, powered by a new graphics engine designed to incorporate large-scale battles in more open environments than in previous entries. Enemy AI has also changed from earlier games, relying more on dynamic actions instead of scripted routines. Each soldier's armor now offers distinctive abilities, depending on the equipped enhancements. A jetpack allows you to fly, active camouflage makes you invisible to enemies, sprint lets you dash at high speeds, and armor lock makes you temporarily invulnerable at the expense of movement. These abilities also play an important role in Halo: Reach's multiplayer modes, which support up to 16 combatants online.

Reach's multiplayer component includes such past favorites as Team Slayer and King of the Hill along with new options. In Headhunter, players collect flaming skulls from defeated opponents and attempt to deposit the skulls in designated areas for points. If you are killed before you reach the target area, your collected skulls will fall to the ground for others to retrieve. Stockpile is a variant on capture the flag, while Generator Defense pits three Spartans versus three Covenant Elites in a battle to defend or destroy generators. Invasion features a series of three team-oriented skirmishes designed in a similar fashion to Battlefield: Bad Company's rush mode. In addition, players can create custom scenarios with the Forge option, take in-game screenshots, earn credits to cosmetically enhance their soldier, and record video to study combat techniques or to share with the Halo community.

Pretty exciting game no matter your skill level.

Okay, so I'm not a gamer. I play around 2 hours a week total. What I like about Halo Reach is you can start it up for 15-20 minutes at a time, make progress, and then shut it off. Plenty of "checkpoints" and you can vary your intensity level to match your skill level. The story on Halo Reach is what I really enjoy. You know that, in the end, we loose the planet....yet each segment of game gives you a sense of hope that you can help protect the remaining humans on the planet....and you do get victories. But just when you think you will get ahead your chopper gets shot down, your area explodes from an alien bombing raid, etc.. It is a good lesson, albeit a virtual one, that you get up and fight on regardless of guaranteed victory. In the heat of the battle you are fighting for the guy next to you. When you come upon a settlement of humans...you fight to protect them. Never mind the overall war is going to be declared a victory for the enemy, you have a chance to make a difference in an individuals life. The graphics are great!!! Highly detailed, great lighting and shading, sound is OUTSTANDING--booth sound effects and musical scores. The blood and gore are minimal by todays wide-ope standards. There are no gasps for breath in the last moment of a persons life, the blood is seen from like 50 feet away so you see a puddle but no squirting or anything like that. And the driving of the wart-hog is just plain fun, if not a bit sloppy.....meaning it feels more like driving a boat at times than a tired vehicle. but its FUN!!!! I'm looking forward to see how this concludes as I am only about 6 game hours into this one. I think its going to set the stage nicely to move into the original Halo, which is now offered with much improved graphics so the 10+ year old game will feel more like todays games. I would highly recommend this game....especially at the regular used price of under $20 bucks.

    Good but needed more description.

Mainly got this for the case/cover art as its an old game. It was labeled as good, and while the front and game are alright the back is pretty messed up, plastic looks like it was melted a bit, just kinda deformed and some rips in it. Overall the cover art isnt harmed that much, but this definitely needed a picture of the back and a used rating, since ill need to switch the game case as the back is beyond an eye sore. Shipped quick though

  • A great classic game!

I like the credit system, when playing you can unlock armor and cosmetics. This game brings back good memories! Game is backwards compatible, I play it on xbox one. Graphics are xbox 360 quality. Overall a great game! They don't have the credit system in the reach in master chief collection. You have to play online to unlock armor and cosmetics. Halo reach is still one of the best halo games in my opinion!

  • Great game wish we could have finished.

The disc came just as described and we knew it was used. It did not look like it was refurbished though and had a bunch of scratches on it. We were able to play it till a couple missions from the end and then it is unreadable. The price was right and we are able to play versus on it so we got our moneys worth out of it. I knew it was a risk to buy used so I'm not frustrated or surprised just a little disappointed we didn't get to finish the game.

  • its good. couple cons, but overall, fantastic shooter.

Not my favorite campaign in the franchise, but Its a pretty good game. No, its a pretty excellent game. Its my favorite multiplayer in the franchise, its my favorite magnum in the franchise, its got a lot going for it. Now, the cons. Removing dual wielding was kinda a bummer for me. dual wielding was clunky and weird when it first got introduced, but it really had an awesome reformation in Halo 3, and seeing it disappear entirely in Reach was kind of a bummer. The Battle Rifle disappearing. While canonically, it makes sense, I miss it. Speaking of canonical weapons, the DMR makes no sense. same with a few other weapons, like the Needle Rifle, Spiker, etc. This is a prequel to Halo 1, where NONE of these weapons appeared. This wasn't really a con, just a nerd tangent. A few common complaints about Halo Reach you'll hear around are Weapon Bloom, and Armor lock. Well, you're gonna be hearing me complain about it too. Weapon bloom was really strange when they added it out of nowhere. It had never been in any Halo game before, and I hope it doesnt appear again. with percission weapons, like the magnum or the dmr, you have to space your shots out more, or your accuracy is gonna be seriously messed up. and armor lock is literally the stupidest feature ever. It stops fights in their tracks and makes you have to wait on your opponent. it kinda ruins the pacing in my opinion, but its not downright bad. Overall, Halo Reach is a good game, just not the best in the series for me. Also, it has almost no reason to be M rated. there's a little human blood from gunshots and that's it, it just barely scrapes up to Mature. I'd rate it a solid 13+

  • Best Halo game so far

In a world with over 10 Halo games across more than two consoles or platforms, Halo:Reach stands out as the most emotionally compelling game for me. You get to experience the foundation of every other Halo game in existance in Halo: Reach (talking about the lore. The events that take place) Playing the campaign takes you on an emotional roller coaster. It is sad, action-packed and really fun to play, all-in-one.

  • My son and I love it we play everyday. It’s fun

In my opinion the game is awesome or like my dad will say outstanding. He is an ex Marine . Well he said that if they went to space that’s how it will be. Graphics are great. And is very entertaining. I recommend it for everyone.

  • Now even better.

This game still holds up, and since the new patch for Xbox1, you don't even need a 360 to play it smoothly. Even though it's my least favorite of the bungie halos, it's still a great game! And it's still "in my opinion" better than the new ones made by 343.

  • Game is "ok" for Xbox 1

the game is fun just as I hoped it would be. But since I'm playing on the xbox 1 it doesn't run as smoothly. It feels like the game is running at 20fps which is a big difference from the 60fps that I'm used to.

  • Another great title in the Halo series.

Great game even compared to its predecessors and successors. I 've enjoyed the gameplay as if it were the first time playing Halo back on the OG Xbox. We love the titles and plan to continue supporting the developers.
