John Carpenter's first feature stars Dan O'Bannon as the leader of four astronauts aboard deep space cruiser Dark Star whose mission is to seek out planets where life forms could threaten Earth and destroy them. With just one bomb left, it's time to head home until the ship's pet alien accidentally triggers its arming device. But the bomb is sentient - surely it can be argued out of exploding in the bomb bay.
