My son, a Lord of the Rings fan, really enjoys playing this game. There is some strategic thinking involved. Each game takes around half an hour, but the instructions show how you can reduce the board size if you want a faster game. There are lots of small parts, so it would be infuriating to lose some, although many of them are standard Lego pieces so you could replace them.
My son loves lego games. He has been wanting this one for awhile and was sad when Lego discontinued the games. He enjoys the creativity of learning the rules and then modifying them to increase the fun.
This is one of the retired Lego Board Games. It's a great addition to any Lego collection (especially to the ones whom likes Lord of the Rings). The game is easy to play, with just a few rules. It is a simple build but you have to pay attention to the various variations of blue and tan pieces. The role board fits inside the box, except you have to lie down the tower and disassemble the figures and door behind the king's place. Be sure to play on a hard flat surface since it's easy to disassemble the board.
