    Great Amp.

Was not expecting it to sound this good. I own a Marshall DSL 40C, and a Fender 68 Deluxe Reverb, and this amp is definitely nicer than I was expecting. Doesn't do metal, but it does everything else. Sounds great clean, and has that clean to close to break up sound mastered. I like the stock speak in it, so not going to swap that out. Really surprised by the blues tones coming out of it. Texas Blues no problem. If you like SRV, this is your amp for sure, without pedals. I am now officially a Vox fan. Was hesitant to buy a Vox from all the online reviews, because the sound just was not coming through the computer speakers. Got a good deal on this red beauty and took the leap, and if this was my only amp, I would be fine. Have a 10 band EQ I run into it, and the sound only gets better. I used to own a Fender Blues Junior III, and although that is not a bad amp, it is not in the same class as the Vox AC15C. The Vox does not sound boxy, has reverb and tremolo, is two channel, and gets you that great blues tone at low volumes without pedals. Highly recommend to beginners and experienced players. Should have bought this amp before the others.

  • Most critical review

The AC15 C1, is a good amp, but....

Bought the amp somewhat impulsively, even though I did check some reviews. If I'd had my choice I wouls like to A/B it against the AC15 HW.... I tried it at home first with varying combinations of Guitars. Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker to name a few. My go to overdrive is a Hermida Zendrive. So I threw that in and out of the mix. Ok, time to play....I like P90's, and Humbuckers with this amp. I didn't care for the Fenders as much. The Rick (620) seemed a little anemic. I noticed there was a little higher pitched buzzy sound. I started checking the forums, a little worried. It seems that most of the gripes about the sound that were familiar to what I was hearing were resolved by going to an Alnico Blue Speaker replacement( can be pricey, but less expensive models are available)....I haven't tried it yet! But I think I eventually will after some break in time this speaker. We'll see.... Another big recommendation were swapping all the tubes with JJ's as most people preferred. This was a common thing on the forums. OK....I'll try it. Anyways , I took it to a gig to give it a go, and I loved it! Gibson LP/P90s and my Zendrive....sheesh that little amp stomped a Blues Deluxe for tone, volume etc. n the minus side...I plugged in my Clapton Strat as well.....still not lovin it. Bottom Line....I wanna like this amp...I think I will too, after trying some non destructive amp mods mentioned. I couldn't beat the price I was offered....oh yeah....it's kinda heavy too. I give it a C+ with lots of potential. Probably woulda bought the AC15 HW if I wanted to really go for it. We'll see....

  • Not quite what I was expecting but still ok

I purchased this amp after hours of pouring into weighing my pros and cons and options. Fender or vox. Ac4 or ac15 or ac30. I went with the ac15 after what seemed to be the best choice, and maybe it was. Amp sounds very good compared to the modeling amp o had prior. No doubt. After owning for a week I had an very noticeable power tube vibration noise. The eBay dealer paid for a new set of tubes for me thankfully and that took care of that noise. I also get more noise than I would like with the amp turned half way up and nothing plugged in. Not unbearable but more than I expected - and much more than the fender bass breaker I tried. If I could go back I would buy the fender for quality reasons but now I own the vox ac15 and it's not bad enough to sell so I will live with it and it is "okay". Research online shows a lot of similar noise problems. Didnt know that till after I bought it.

  • Great Sound from a Great Amp

This Vox amp, with one 12-inch speaker and 15 watts, is the perfect size for home use. The sound from my Gretsch Country Gentleman, and even more so, my Rickenbacker 12 string is wonderful. On opening the box, I got a strong smell of tobacco smoke. Over the course of 10 days or so, the smell gradually disappeared.

  • The Chime I was looking for

I just love this amp. I have a Night Train, a very nice tube amp, but doesn't come close to the "bell like" chime of the Vox AC15C1 classic amp. I got mine in Bronco White and it looks like a work of art. Just as beautiful as it sounds. I love the master volume feature so I can crank up the channel volume to get that edgy Vox overdrive sound but keep the over all volume at a reasonable home studio level. It has plenty of power for the studio or small club setting but can still be played at home without disturbing the neighbors. The tonal range is amazing and it takes very well to any pedal I throw at it. I play mostly an outlaw country sound and it is exactly what I was looking for. This may be the last amp I buy, at least for a very long time. Don't hesitate to get one. A great investment that holds its resale value really well.

  • Perhaps the Most Tone Control Available

No matter how much you spend or what brands you try, you will be hard-pressed to find any amplifier with more tone control than a Vox, and this particular model gives you bedroom friendly volume up to decently loud. And, if you want some seriously overdriven distortion, just add a little boost to your signal and turn your preamp up and your master volume down. My personal favorite feature is the separate normal and top-boost channels that can be accessed separately via an ABY footswitch. You can mix the two, or set one to clean and the other to overdrive. A little imagination and you can do a lot with this little amp! The external speaker jacks let you add a cabinet, or go totally external to two if you want...another great option. Most people are perfectly happy with the stock Celestion, though, because it is a great speaker in its own right, and better than most amps come with. The best judge is your own two ears. Sit down and plug into one and turn a few knobs and see what happens. Find an amp that costs twice as much. Is it any better? I doubt it.

  • Love The Tone

Great chimey tone. Easy to dial in the slightly broken up tone Sounds great at all volumes. Plenty loud for most applications. Reverb is usable. Vibrato is amazing. Takes pedals well. This is my go to amp, especially for worship music. Not sure why it has to be so big and bulky. But that's the only negative aspect.

  • Great amp, at a reasonable price!

Great chimey sound, that brings back the sounds of the 60's British invasion. If your a big Beatles fan, as I am, as well as other groups during that time period, then you'll definitely love this amp. Plenty loud enough to cover small to medium size venues without getting lost in the shuffle. Does the amp have a little weight to it? Yes, but nothing the average person can't handle. All in all, very satisfied with the sound this amp delivers.

  • REally sweet

You can dial in whatever sound you like--country, rock, clean. maybe not any sound, metal sounds terrible. But from spunky to sweet, this amp does it all. Its louder than it seems like and has excellent projection. I use it in church and have gotten lots of positive feedback. I mic it through the PA with minimal loss.
