Good for web browsing, productivity, and media consumption at 4K; light gaming at 1080p
Bought this because I had a 3700x and a 2070 super in my desktop, which seemed to be overkill, because I'm not a gamer. The processor gives slightly better performance than a 3700x, and does a good job driving a 4K monitor for normal tasks (web browsing, productivity and media consumption.) The only thing I'd recommend if you're using a 4K monitor to be sure to enable the XMP/DOCP profile for your memory - this processor uses shared memory for video and slower RAM speeds will definitely affect video performance.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent high performance CPU
Excellent high performance reasonable wattage CPU for use when you don't want to waste watts or money on a dedicated graphics card. Might get a 5600X instead but like the 5700G
I have told others about this CPU would buy it again. Maybe I was past due running a 4700K, wanted a 5800X but didn't like its price AT THE TIME. Yet, I'm happy with the 5700G and love the fallback on graphics as a backup. It is slightly slower than the 5600X, I helped a friend set one up. Its main drawback is 16MB compared to 32MB of cache on the X-CPUs, and games love cache. Only PCI 3 and not 4.0. Yet, I look at Intel with PCI-E 5.0 support and it was the cost of the mobo, DDR-5, and much more heat output that scared me away. Not here, I prefer Intel LOL! I saw one last week max out a water cooler, not for the faint of heart. Rig? Asus Prime Plus 550 $109 New. AMD XFX RX-580 CTS Video Card Creative Labs AE-5 $88 on eBay. 4TB WD Black HDD, 2GB Black HDD Soon SSD 16GB Ballistic 3200MHz RAM EVGA 850 PSU, $84 from Newegg. AMD 3700G CPU Cooler Master High Air Flow Case Cooler Master Hyper 212B CPU Cooler I love sound so it is connected to a JVC 885 and Big Homebrew speakers. Works Perfect
Works better than I expected. Just make sure you get the drivers for this APU from the AMD website. It worked when I first plugged it in to the new motherboard but it wouldn't allow me to play games. So I reinstalled windows and then downloaded the drivers and everything works perfect. Also after doing some research, I read that this APU take RAM with high frequency. Video cards today are very tough to come by but with these integrated graphics you need the right processor and the 5700g does not fail. With this processor your frames are consistent regarding gaming and anything else you want to throw at it.
