Good choice of brand
Never having used a rotary cutter before, I’m having to teach myself to use it. It is sharp and easy to use and I love the retractable blade. You do have to teach yourself the best way to use it so I practice on old scrubs first, and can see why so many people use them, but only for quilting, but for cutting around patterns et cetera. Superb little tool for the regular sewer.
Can’t think why I’ve never used one of these before! Time saving and easy to get used to. Not sure yet howling the blade will last but they seem readily available and reasonably priced. Worth getting used to :-)
You do need a self healing cutting mat, but most crafters have those anyway. The first thing I cut were some patchwork squares, using a metal ruler as a guide. The rotary cutter is absolutely fantastic for this. It has a great handhold handle and you don't need much pressure to use it at all and I was cutting through 4-6 layers of cotton fabric. I then tried using it to cut out a dress pattern. You need to persevere with it. I was all over the place in the beginning, but after doing a few practice runs on spare fabric I was away and cutting out the pattern loads faster then using scissors. It also cuts flat on the mat, so no chance of not cutting precisely. I wont be going back to scissors for cutting out fabric againVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Really easy to use.
My last Fiskar rotary cutter was bought 15 years ago. I lent it to a friend, and haven't got it back, so I bought a new one. This is excellent. It automatically retracts the blade.
