Very powerful, very handy, very happy

I have had a Makita drill /driver for many years, and been very happy with it. But switching between drilling and driving can be a pain on bigger projects, so I decided to buy this driver for convenience. So glad I did! It is SO much better for driving screws than the drill/driver. WAY more power, both for driving and removing. In fact, the only things you need to be careful of are 1) maintaining the bit in the screw head and 2) the speed of driving. Its a bit tricky to get a slow turn, it takes a bit of practice and a steady finger pressure to get this - most of the time the screw just zips in at full speed! I now have a few Makita tools, and several batteries, so buying a drill body was the sensible option. Only one regret in buying this - I should have bought it sooner!! Note: the Z at the end of the model name just means its the body only. Other DTD152 have different letters to show the different options, like an included battery, or charger, or box or whatever. Took me a while to figure that one out!

  • Most critical review

Pathetic poor quality copy of the real thing

Not a patch on the Makita branded ones... It's pathetic, slow and the plastic started pealing after 3 days of light use. Pay the extra and buy genuine.

  • Recommended!

I received the Makita DTD152Z LXT 18v,with a 3Ah battery;the battery was empty so i had to charge it. But after charging the battery , the DTD152Z LXT is a realy strong impact driver, great! For some jobs it's just to powerful. But i have a 14,4v machine for that. Interior jobs for example. It's a brushed machine, but changing the brushes is easy and cheap. Compact, light weight, strong and nice in the hand.

  • One of the best drivers on the market

Usual great quality drill from makita, very compact size and plenty of power to fire screws home all day.

  • Fabulous piece of kit

A fabulous piece of kit, in a very neat case. Case is well made and I am sure will out last any plastic case. The joints are well engineered Smooth running drawer of accessories Good quality foam keeping the tool secure. Well worth it. It would be good if these cases were available for other tools and other brand of tools such as bosch

  • Well drilled and driven.

Bought for sons use in his construction work, he reported the tool is robust, efficient, effective and powerful for its role, he is very happy with the quality, performance and reliability, good all round tool for Pro and DIY use. Lightweight and easy to use in confined and close quarters, comfortable to use repeatedly.

  • Lightweight but powerful

I recently purchased this impact driver knowing the other impact driver I have (10.8v) wasn't going to be up to the job of heavy duty work. The 10.8v is ok for 50mm screws but my next job was to build a large summerhouse using 150mm coach screws to tie in the walls. For this, I needed the 18v. This impact driver is well balanced, comfortable on the hand, powerful and is just sheer quality. I'd buy another one tomorrow.

  • These are good tools

Ok this version isn't brushless. I bought some spare brushes cheap for when they need replacing and it's an easy job. My last makita driver lasted 15 years used daily as a tradesman. Highly recommend, powerful and compact

  • Quite a good tool but make sure you use the right bits or you will easily chew up the screws you are using.

This is far more powerful than I expected and takes a little getting used to after using screwdrivers! Perfect when needed for numerous time consuming jobs or projects around the house. I have a few Makita products and they are all excellent machines, this one included.

  • Powerful Impact Driver

Ace piece of kit, very light, yet extremely powerful. Colleague bought the 10.8v version a few weeks previously, but prefers to use my 18v when it comes to heavy duty work. The additional torque on the 18v version makes all the difference when using 4/5 inch screws in stud work.
