Excellent Radar with lots of features..
Best long range detector on the market today. U-tube has excellent videos on how to setup your new R7 and download the newest firmware updates. My unit came with the latest firmware already installed. I would recommend this Radar Detector even if you seldom speed. WAS a V1 man.
Was a valentine user. Now I am an Uniden user. Mainly use in city where false alarms would almost wear out the speaker on V1. Love the gps feature that allows you to mute and save all off these false alarms. Also, I can’t tell the difference between the distant reception of our local HP making his morning journey to the east while I’m traveling west. Top notch radar detector.
I have been using radar detectors since 1978 and I always kept up with the latest and greatest because I wanted the best at all times. Uniden has nailed it on the head with the new R7. It is a little tricky to configure until you get the hang of it but it is worth the wait in the long run. One of the pluses is that their software upgrades are available on their website you don’t have to send it back in for upgrades. The directions on their website are a little vague but once you get everything installed on your PC then you are set. Long Range R7

Better than Escort
A lot of people might disagree about it being better than an Escort but after owning three different models of Escort i can say with confidence that Uniden R7 is IMO a better detector! I also own a Uniden DFR6 and a DFR8 which are absolutely fantastic but after using the new R7 for awhile it is definitely a more responsive detector. There is a hwy here on the outskirts of town that has a K Band speed sigh and the straight road it’s on has a good four mile stretch and the R7 started alerting at 3.7 miles from the sign and that is more than enough to avoid a ticket! You’ll have to trust the detector because of it’s ridiculous range you’ll swear there is no cops around! Uniden R7 user review
I bought the R7 to replace my out of date Valentine 1 detector. The range is good. But not quite as good as my V1 was, but close enough. There are many settings so initial setup takes some time, the manual leads you through it, but once you go through the settings and make some additional adjustments after using for it a while, the detector will be hands off. It is nice to have a detector again that does not alarm due to all the cars around me with new safety systems that use K band. Several settings to help keep the detector quiet while in heavy traffic. R7 is a great detector
The Uniden R7 works well. I find making sure the firm ware is up to date is very important. The RDForum is a great source of info. The Uniden R7's ability to weed out false alarms is great.
