For adding a wide range of percussion effects to your music, Roland presents the HPD-15 HandSonic electronic Percussion Multi-Pad that can be played with hands or fingers. Play upto 15 sounds naturally on this percussion controller without sticks, thanks to the built-in V-Drums triggering technology and the 10" thick rubber pad that is divided into 15 parts. A built-in pressure sensor in the HPD-15 HandSonic percussion multi-pad lets you control the sound pitch and allows for realistic muting. This electronic Percussion Multi-Pad supports positional sensing that helps you create changes in the timbre of the sound simply by striking different areas of the pad. This percussion controller is preloaded with 600 percussion sounds from India, China, Middle East, Africa and other places and includes dedicated reverb and multi-effects processors.

Although I know of this instrument since it came out a few years ago, I never paid attention to it. I must say I shouldn't have ignored it. It is really great especially for hand percussionists. There are so many great usable sounds. I only wish there was a layering capability. But then again you have 15 pads, 2 ribbons and D beam at your disposal.
