Product Information
Experience the thrill of a safari from the safety of your own home with "Afrika," a popular photography simulation game for the Sony PlayStation 3. It was created by Rhino Studios and published by Natsume with a release date in 2009. In "Afrika," you have the option to play as two characters including Eric, a journalist from France, or Anna, a zoologist from the United States. Both characters have been hired to explore the Manyanga Conservation Area in Africa. Using real-world camera equipment and techniques, you must search vast grasslands, soggy marshes, and dense forests in an attempt to document and photograph some of the world's most vibrant and magnificent animals. There are more than 60 different species for you to discover, including the cheetah, the hippo, and the giraffe.Throughout the course of this PlayStation video game, you will receive missions at your base camp that offer you the opportunity to photograph a specific animal. Your guide will then drive you to the designated location where you can get out of the jeep and snap closeups of the animals. In later missions, you can even gain full control of a hot air balloon and soar over the African wilderness. However, you are not just limited to taking photographs during the day. You can also snap pictures of unique wildlife at night. Take photographs with the in-game camera by using either the regular buttons or the motion-sensing controller for a more realistic gaming experience. With the power of Sixaxis technology, you can simply move the controller around and the in-game camera will match your movements. Once you complete the mission, you will need to upload the photo to your in-game computer. You will then receive a rating of your overall work based on the quality of the image and the techniques you used. Players also have the option to take part in more than 100 missions while earning points by capturing dramatic events, such as a baby elephant taking its first steps or lions fighting over a kill. You can travel almost everywhere in the game and immediately observe realistic-looking wildlife living in their natural habitats. Since the wildlife is designed to act realistically, gamers must keep their distance to avoid an animal attack or startling the creatures. Each mission will earn you in-game money, which can be used to unlock advanced photographic technology for taking better and more difficult photographs. And after you successfully complete a mission in the game, you can watch real-life videos or learn about the many animal inhabitants of Africa in GEO Afrika Mode."Afrika" lets you explore stunning African vistas and wildlife refuges. It's one of the few released games to offer you the opportunity to view and photograph the amazing African wilderness. All this is set against the backdrop of a unique documentary-style soundtrack from the Japanese composer Wataru Hokoyama, which received the Best Original Video Games Score by The Hollywood Music Awards in 2008.Product Identifiers
